Railways has targeted 8.6 billion passengers in the Pre-Covid

Despite low revenue expectations, Indian Railways is poised to go full speed

To restore passenger traffic to its pre-epidemic level.

According to Budget Estimates (BE) for 2022-23 (FY23)

The National Transporter is expected to carry 8.6 billion passengers that year.

This is the same number of passengers calculated by the Railways in the 2021-22 (FY22) budget.

Under the revised estimates (RE) for FY22;

Railways has set a target of carrying 3.5 billion passengers on FY22.

The high base is based on the expectation that the journey

It will resume once the epidemic has receded.

This was the superficial opinion when FY22 BE was created, but the second wave of infection raised its ugly head.
