Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that climate change was a high priority in this year’s Union Budget and reflected India’s commitment to a greener future.
He was speaking at the launch of ICRISAT (International Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics)’s Golden Jubilee celebrations here.
After years of effort, this year’s budget has placed more emphasis on climate action. This year’s budget promotes India’s commitment towards a greener future in every sector, he said.
He also said the budget focuses on organic farming and digital farming. Modi unveiled a commemorative postage stamp to mark the 50th founding anniversary of ICRISAT.
He also started a climate change research facility on plant protection.
